Twenty-two eminent personalities, including Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat (JKP) Education president Vishakha Tripathi, were honoured here with the Rajiv Gandhi Global Excellence Award.
Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi Tuesday conferred the awards, instituted by Rajiv Gandhi Global Excellence Award Foundation, on the occasion of the 22nd death anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.
JKP Education president was honoured for her "unparalleled work" in the field of girls' education. JKP claims that it is providing free education to more than 4,500 girls from primary to the doctorate level.
After receiving the award, Tripathi said JKP Education had embarked on the mission of opening a new management college to offer master in business administration (MBA) degrees.
"Underprivileged and deprived girl students would get free top class management education very soon," she said at the awards ceremony organised at India Habitat Centre here.
Other awardees included Saurabh Garg whose efforts to create awareness about thalassaemia and social work was recognised.

Tariq Zafar, vice chancellor of Bhoj University in Madhya Pradesh, P.C. Pankaj, chairman of North Eastern Electric Power Corporation, Keya Seth, chairman Keya Aromatherapy, and Syed Faisal Ali, group editor Sahara Urdu, were among the awardees.
The award, now in its 15th year, recognises exceptional contribution in the field of creative arts, journalism, business, education, public and social service.
