The revised Joint Doctrine of the Indian armed forces was released by Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman and Navy chief Sunil Lanba here on Tuesday, a defence statement said.

Army chief Bipin Rawat and Indian Air Force chief B.S. Dhanoa were also present at the release of the Joint Doctrine Indian Armed Forces-2017.

"Jointness and integration in the Armed Forces is the order of the day like any other facet of life and therefore release of this doctrine could not have come at a more opportune time," said the Defence Ministry statement.

It said the Joint Doctrine will serve as a cornerstone document for application of military power in a synergised manner leading to enhanced efficiency, optimum utilisation of resources and financial savings.

"It will also establish a broad framework of concepts and principles to understand our approach to Joint Planning and conduct of operations across all the domains of conflict ie land, air, sea, space and cyber-space. In addition, the Doctrine will also serve as a reference document for all the three Services to plan integrated operations," the statement added.
