World No. 3 shuttler Jan O Jorgensen said he hopes the reports about Malaysia's top badminton player Lee Chong Wei having failed a doping test is a "false alarm".

Lee, who withdrew from last week's Denmark Open citing an injury, was reported by Malaysian media earlier this week to have failed a random test at the world badminton championships in Copenhagen late August.

According to a Chinese television channel earlier Wednesday, the 32-year-old superstar will find it hard to avoid a two-year ban after his B sample also tested positive for a banned substance.

"I need more resource before saying something about it," Jorgensen told Xinhua Wednesday.

"I really really hope it's a false alarm."

The 26-year-old Dane said he was shocked when he heard about the reports of Lee failing a doping test.

"I cant even imagine if it's true. I'll see what's coming on," added Jorgensen, who fell at the first round of men's singles of the French Open Super Series after losing to Chinese Taipei's Chou Tien Chen Wednesday.
