Debutant director Arun Chidambaram says his two Remi Award-winning Tamil drama "Kanavu Variyam", which hits the screens on Friday, is a simple film which will inspire the dreamer in all of us.
In 2016, the film had its world premiere at 49th WorldFest Houston International Film Festival where it won two Remi Awards.
"This is a story sans twists and turns. It's a simple film which will inspire the dreamer in us. It will encourage people to chase their dreams and do what they love. It also has romance and comedy but the core idea will inspire people," Arun told IANS.
Arun himself plays the lead alongside Jiya Shankar, Illavarasu and Senthil Kumar.
The film revolves around power cuts and electricity deficit in the villages of Tamil Nadu.
"It's a film that will make you fall in love with science, and kids will realise that science can be so much fun. Just because it's an award-winning film, it doesn't mean it will be very slow and is targeted at a section of audience. It's a commercial film that's equally uplifting," he said.

While Arun is happy with all the international acclaim his film has received, he says the true victory lies in the way audiences accept it in cinemas.
"I'm glad the film was received well internationally. The film addresses the power cut issue in Tamil Nadu, so it's important for me that audiences embrace it. It's a film for them and I'm hopeful they will receive it with open arms," he added.
