Kanhaiya Kumar fined, Umar Khalid to lose a session

JNU student leader Kanhaiya Kumar was on Monday fined Rs.10,000 and his friend Umar Khalid rusticated for a semester by a panel which probed a controversial event on Kashmir held in the campus, officials said.

Kumar was was arrested in February in connection with a case of sedition and criminal conspiracy over holding of an event on the JNU campus against hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.

A group of students had held an event on the JNU campus and allegedly shouted slogans against the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru in 2013.
