Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday slammed his Goa counterpart Laxmikant Parsekar for reinstating his tainted brother-in law who had been caught taking bribe.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader claimed that if his own kin was involved in corruption, he would ensure that the accused spends his lifetime in prison.

"What signal is the Chief Minister sending to the people? If it was my brother-in-law, I would have cut off my relations with him and ensured he stays in prison for a lifetime," he said.

"If Goa has a government where the CM wipes out the cases filed against his kin and gets him out of prison and reinstates him, leave alone tourism industry, no industry can flourish," Kejriwal said. "There can only be loot."

Kejriwal said the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) did not even pursue the case of disproportionate assets against Parsekar's brother-in law.

In August last year, Dilip Malvankar, a field officer at the government-run Goa Industrial Development Corp and Parsekar's brother-in law, was arrested by the ACB while accepting a Rs 1 lakh bribe to facilitate allocation of an industrial plot in Tuem village, 35 km from Panaji.
