Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has raised the issue of financial irregularities in Delhi cricket association only to divert attention from corruption being harboured by his own government, the BJP said on Tuesday.

"Kejriwal is protecting corrupt officials and party leaders. He raked up irregularities in Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) only to divert attention from his government's failure and CBI raid on his Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar," BJP secretary Shrikant Sharma said at a press conference here.

He condemned Kejriwal for using offensive language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and not being repentent about it.

"Kejriwal uses foul language against his rivals to seek media attention. He made a derogatory remark against Prime Minister and it's unfortunate that he said he had no regrets about it," Sharma said.

In an interview to a TV channel telecast on Tuesday, Kejriwal said he had no regrets about calling Modi a "coward" and a "psychopath".

Sharma reiterared that Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley - who has been accused by Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of being involved in widespread corruption in DDCA - had clean hands in Delhi's cricket affairs.

Jaitley was the chairman of DDCA from 1999 to 2013.
