Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will visit Punjab on Saturday and meet families of those killed in police firing during protests over recent incidents of desecration of the Sikh holy book, an AAP leader said.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh, who is in-charge of the party's Punjab affairs, on Friday said Kejriwal would meet the families of two people killed in Kotkapura area of Faridpur district on October 14, as protesters clashed with police after over 100 pages of the Guru Granth Sahib were found scattered in a street near a gurdwara in nearby Bargari village.

In a tweet, Singh said Kejriwal would pay obeisance at the Harmandir Sahib, the holiest shrine of Sikh religion, and then go to Kotkapura.

Kejriwal's visit assumes significance as AAP is eyeing the 2017 assembly polls in the state and has re-structured its unit there.

AAP had won four seats in the last Lok Sabha elections in Punjab. Out of its four MPs, two were recently suspended for "anti-party" activities.
