Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has signed the revised Anti-Doping Bill into law to ensure compliance with the measures set by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

The signing into law on Thursday now clears the way for WADA to review Kenya's compliance with its code, reports Xinhua.

"We look forward to WADA's review and declaration of Kenya as compliant with existing rules," Kenyatta said in a statement issued after signing the Bill.

"Kenya has always supported clean sport and will continue to do so," he added.

WADA's compliance committee had ruled that Kenya was "non-compliant" when its board met in Montreal on May this year, citing issues related to the anti-doping legislation.

The East African nation was supposed to amend the sections of the law initially signed by Kenyatta on April 22 and pass the same through the lower and upper houses of Parliament and if WADA are satisfied, the verdict will be overturned.
