Kenyan long distance runners Geoffrey Kamworor and Stanley Biwott Thursday sounded confident ahead of the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon to be held here Sunday.

The 21-year-old Kamworor, the reigning World Half Marathon champion, said he had finished second twice here in 2011 and 2013 and for this year, he was aiming to clinch the yellow metal with a better timing than his personal best of 58.54 minutes.

"I have had a fair amount of success in Delhi in my previous two visits. I also won the TCS Bangalore 10k event in 2012 and 2014. I like coming to India. I am fit and ready to run a good race. I have been training well recently and I am aiming for number one position this time. My performance Sunday depends on the weather," he said.

Unlike Kamworor, Biwott will run his first race since finishing second in the London Marathon April 13.

The 28-year-old suffered a hamstring injury, which kept him out of action for nearly seven months.

"Injuries are part and parcel of an athlete's life. I followed the doctor's advice properly. It is never easy to return to competitions after an injury. But I recovered well and have been training well recently. Hopefully, I will have a good race," he said.
