Kerala draft industrial policy released

State Industries Minister A.C. Moideen on Friday released the draft industrial policy of the Pinarayi Vijayan government in Kerala, listing a number of major projects to be taken up in the near future.

"We have decided to set up a petro-chemical complex in a 500 acre plot of land that will be taken from the campus of the Central Public Sector FACT in Kochi, which will produce raw materials for the plastic, paint, textiles industry. Another major project that will take shape is a mineral sand processing plant which will turn out high value titanium products and the plant will be set up only in the public sector," Moideen told reporters here.

He added that the unveiled draft policy will be circulated in the industry to get their insights and then the final policy would be announced.

The minister said his department will come out with a status report on the present condition of the various types of parks set up across the state, to find out what is actually happening in these parks.

"New parks will be set up depending on need and in these parks women will get special allotments when it comes to setting up new units. We have also decided to streamline all applications at one place and single-window clearance would be strictly made into a workable proposition with all the required clearance to be ready within 30 days," Moideen said.

He said the policy will be very favourable and will help the traditional industries which have not been having the best of times due to various reasons.
