Para-medical professionals and nurses from Kerala have immense opportunities for better jobs in emergency services in Dubai and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, said a top Dubai government official on Thursday.

H.E. Khalifa Hassan Al Darai, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS), said: "DCAS is a Dubai government agency in charge of the emergency and ambulance services. Presently we have over 300 nurses from Kerala and as part of our expansion plans we aim to add another additional 300 nurses in the next two years."

Al Darai was addressing the staff of Lifesupporters Institute of Health Sciences (LIHS).

He was in Kochi to hold discussions with various agencies, briefing them on the opportunities for nurses, emergency management professionals and paramedics in the Dubai Ambulance service and other medical services in the GCC.

His visit comes close on the heels of DCAS signing an agreement with Mumbai headquartered LIHS, the country's leading non-profit organisation that promotes emergency and critical care education to save lives and create a cadre of trained professionals.

Through the new tie-up LIHS will provide short term courses of DCAS to nurses and para medics to make them fully qualified to take up jobs with DCAS.
