North Korean leader Kim Jong Un watched recent military drills involving landing and anti-landing, the media reported on Sunday.
Participating in the drills were surface ships of the East Sea fleet of the navy, aircraft from the Second Air Division of the air and anti-air force, and artillery sub-units of the 7th Corps and the 108th Motorized Infantry Division, according to the local KCNA news agency.
Satisfied with the exercises, Kim ordered to intensify training of the Korean People's Army (KPA) with DPRK-style idea and tactics to strengthen coastal defence, Xinhua news agency reported.
On March 12, South Korea and the US carried out the Sangyong amphibious assault drill as a major part of OPLAN 5015 which reportedly aims at removing the North Korean headquarters and destroying Pyongyang's "weapons of mass destruction".
In response, North Korea ordered that the first combined task units in the eastern, central and western sectors of the front be ready for "pre-emptive retaliatory strikes" at the enemies.
