Pregnant pop star Kimberley Walsh has been tested for gestational diabetes.
The 32-year-old, who is expecting her first child with boyfriend Justin Scott, underwent a precautionary examination amid concerns she could develop the condition, which affects the processing of insulin, during her pregnancy.
''Last week I had a glucose screening test for gestational diabetes. It's not routinely done on the NHS but lots of practitioners think it should be, as it's a condition that can be managed so it doesn't affect the baby," contactmusic.com quoted her as saying.
''The only way of knowing if you have it is to do the test; you drink a large glass of Lucozade within five minutes, wait an hour and have a blood test to see how the sugar affects you. If necessary they do further tests over three hours, so I'll have to wait and see," she added.-Indo-Asian News Service
