The Central Electronics Limited (CEL) and Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) will set up an electronics manufacturing cluster near here to give a fillip to the 'Make in India' campaign.

CEL is a public sector undertaking under the union ministry of science and technology while KINFRA is a state-owned corporation.

Union Minister for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Harsh Vardhan has extended full support to the project spread over 45 acres of land and expected to generate 10,000 direct jobs, KINFRA managing director G.C. Pillai told IANS.

"We will ensure basic infrastructure at the park at an estimated cost of Rs.200 crore. Of this, Rs.40 crore will come as grant from the centre.

"At the park, to start with, we will set up a building spread over one lakh square feet to provide plug-and-play facilities for small investors interested in setting up electronics manufacturing companies," said Pillai.

It was also envisaged to provide land for big electronics companies to set up their own facilities at the park.
