A girl barely four and a half years old died after she fell to the ground from the window of a fourth-floor flat here, the city police said on Tuesday.
"A baby girl named Ankita Rajak fell down from their flat on the fourth floor of the Hastings Army quarters on Monday evening," said an officer from the Hastings police station.
According to the police, the child was alone in the house as her parents went out for work as usual. She accidentally slipped through the open window beside the bed.
"The kid was taken to the Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) where doctors declared here dead," a police officer said.
