A bouquet of 200 films from 33 countries will be on a platter at the sixth Kolkata International Children's Film Festival, beginning here on Saturday.

The eight-day movie extravaganza will focus on contemporary science fiction with as many as 35 films under the category ready to be put on the forefront along with 18 Bengali films.

Sandip Ray's "Double Feluda" will be the inaugural film on Christmas Eve with child artist in the flick Priyangshu Bandyopadhyay kicking off the festival.

This has been decided keeping in mind the 50-year anniversary of the Satyajit Ray sketched cult sleuth.

There will be a 'Feluda Package' also commemorating the sleuth and a face to face session with the crew members of "Double Feluda" followed by the screening of "Royal Bengal Rahasya".

Sandip and acclaimed director Goutam Ghosh will also be present on the first day.

According to Shishu Kishore Akademi, organisers of the festival, Minister of Finance, Commerce and Industry Amit Mitra will be the chief guest.

The closing film will be Ramkishan Choyal directed "Gauru - Journey of Courage", which has won the national children's film festival award.

A documentary named "Ruhi's Diary" by John Halder will also be shown.

Besides the Indian deluge which will be on show, science fiction films will not be older than 2014, the organisers said.

There will be no tribute section this time.

From Matt Damon starrer "The Martian", which bagged the Golden Globe award last year, to BAFTA award winner "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", there will be flicks that are certain to interest the kids, the organisers claimed.

To avoid a situation where parents occupy seats at the expense of children, there will be cards issued to guardians as well. One child can be accompanied by one parent.

Among the new countries whose films will be shown are Azerbaijan, Mexico, Vietnam and Belarus.
