The Metro Railway Kolkata's said on Thursday its average earnings during the pre-Durga Puja and on the days of the festival shot up to a record Rs.55.56 lakh and Rs.53.85 lakh respectively.
In anticipation of the pre-puja rush of the shoppers, Metro Railway had run 570 additional services September 17 to October 16, carrying 6.36 lakh passengers on an average each day - 7.80 percent higher than the average number of passengers in the period the previous year.
On October 17, the Metro carried a record number of 7.62 lakh passengers.
The average earnings during this period was Rs.55.56 lakh which is 2.38 percent higher than the corresponding period of the previous year.
During the puja days (October 20-23), the Metro Railway ran 738 special services.
Between October 17 and October 23, Metro Railway carried a record number of 5.90 lakh passengers on an average each day which is 5.55 percent more than the average number of passengers in the previous year.
The average earnings during this period was Rs.53.85 lakh which is 7.79 percent higher than the corresponding period of the previous year.
