Come Friday, audiences here will get a taste of Latin music and dance, thanks to a concert put together by two ensembles specialising in the genre.
Los Amigos, a city-based Latin jazz quartet, has joined hands with Mambo City, a duo of Latin dancers, to stage a concert in an effort to promote the dance and music form.
Often confused with jazz from Latin America, Latin jazz, in reality, is jazz infused with Latin American rhythms.
"We aim to promote salsa and other Latin dance and music forms in India," Satyaki Saha of Mambo City told IANS.
Saha, who holds the Guinness World Records for completing the maximum swing dance flips in a minute, is also one of the first Zumba instructors in Eastern India. He has performed at various international and national platforms.
Saha and Sovit Biswal, Mambo City's other member, together form one of the most powerful Salsa partnerships India has witnessed, with a power-packed, explosive style on stage.
Los Amigos, formed in 2006 by Monojit Dutta and Pradyumna S. Manot, has been making waves with its Latin jazz, featuring hip-shaking, energetic performances.
