Korean Cultural Centre India invites entries for K-Pop

Did you enjoy Psy's "Gangnam Style" and wish to learn the South Korean dance steps? Take part in global competition K-Pop set to take place here Aug 17.

Celebrating the 40th diplomatic year of the Indo-Korean partnership, the second edition of K-Pop contest will be organised at the FICCI Auditorium from 6 p.m to 8:30 p.m.

"Indian public enjoys tapping their feet to 'Gangnam' style especially at wedding ceremonies. Apart from this, we would also like to introduce other music of K-Pop to the Indian audience," Kim Kum Pyoung, director of Korean Cultural Centre India, said in a statement.

"Korean pop has a huge variety of music and dance. The action of K-Pop seems to be missing in India," he added.

This musical genre comprises of a wide variety of audio-visual elements that also includes dance-pop, ballad, electronic, rock and hip-hop.

The winning team from the semi-finals will get a chance to go to Wonhu, the most populous city in Gangwon province and compete with finalists from 13 countries.
