American Matt Kuchar handed in a 69-stroke, two-under-par card at the El Camaleon Golf Club and, taking advantage of his good scores in the first three days, won the Mayakoba Golf Classic and his first PGA tour win in over four years.

The 40-year-old player from Winter Park, Florida, finished the tournament with a total of 262 strokes (64+64+65+69) or 22 under par, one stroke under New Zealander Danny Lee, who finished second after carding a 65 on on Sunday, reports Efe.

Kuchar, bronze medallist at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, birdied on holes 3, 5, 11 and 13, but then got into trouble by committing bogeys on holes 14 and 15. He then managed to par the rest and could finally make a victory long chased.

Kuchar achieved his fourteenth professional victory and the eighth on the PGA Tour, where he had not won since the RBC Heritage on Apr. 20, 2014. His most recent victory came in October 2015 at the Fiji International, on the Australasian circuit.

The Mayakoba Classic became the first PGA tournament outside of the United States and Canada in 2007 and this year celebrated its twelfth version.
