Asian junior runners-up Kush Kumar kept India's hopes alive with an emphatic 11-3, 11-4, 11-7 win over Darren Chan of Malaysia for a place in the quarter-final of the WSF World Junior Individual Squash Championship, here Tuesday.

National coach Cyrus Poncha described Kumar's win as a "comprehensive" effort. Quick to judge his rival, Kumar found his touch in the drops and often caught his opponent with good interceptions and drives. At no stage was the Indian perturbed, finishing his task in 27 minutes.

Earlier, Kumar had beaten Edmon Lopez-Molier of Spain 11-6, 11-4, 11-8 to enter the last 16 while another Indian Madhav Dhingra did well to reach the third round with a 11-7, 11-6, 11-2 win over Callum Lawton of Zimbabwe before going down to Youssef Soliman of Egypt 11-1, 11-4, 11-2.
