Diversified company Larsen and Toubro (L&T) on Wednesday said its power transmission and distribution business unit has won a repeat order worth Rs.864 crore from Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (QGEWC).
The order is part of QGEWC's ongoing expansion plan in phase 12.
In a statement, the Indian origin multinational company said the scope of work encompasses engineering, procurement and construction of two substation packages.
The first package includes upgradation and strengthening of two 400 KV substations and the extension of a 132 KV substation while the second package is for the construction of four new 66 KV substations.
With Qatar continuing to witness tremendous development and urbanisation, the expansion project aims to ensure stable power supply to all sectors including households, industries, business centres, shopping malls, hospitals and schools throughout the capital city of Doha and its suburbs.
The country has been one of the biggest spenders on transmission and distribution infrastructure in the Gulf area in recent times.
