"Since we have not been allowed to raise certain issues inside the house, we felt it prudent to inform the same to the governor who is the constitutional head of the state," Leader of Opposition and Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) politburo member Surjya Kanta Mishra said after meeting Narayanan.
"Earlier, we wanted to move an adjournment motion on the police firing in Nadia district but it was disallowed. Today (Tuesday) again our bid to have a discussion on chit funds was also disallowed," he said.
"Since these issues are of utmost public importance and we feel the governor has the power to do something, we informed him about them," Mishra said.
Apart from the Left Front, the Congress leaders also met Narayanan following a clash between Left Front members and Trinamool Congress legislators inside the assembly resulting in three of the legislators being injured and hospitalised and three others suspended.
The fracas took place after Left members who tried to bring an adjournment motion on the mushrooming of chit funds in the state rushed to Speaker Biman Banerjee's podium and started shouting slogans.
