Newly promoted La Liga club CD Leganes made history here, beating struggling Osasuna 2-0 for its first home victory in the top flight of Spanish football.
Forward Rober Ibañez on Monday scored both goals for the hosts in front of more than 8,800 fans at Butarque stadium, reports Efe.
Some of those fans were just taking their seats when Diego Rico raced down the left side and delivered a cross to Ibañez, who was waiting by the far post, who made it 1-0 in the sixth minute.
Both coaches made substitutions to start the second half and the quality of play improved.
A spell of end-to-end action culminated in the 56th minute with Ibañez's second goal of the night on a great deep ball from midfielder David Timor.
Osasuna remained on the attack, but the hosts made the 2-0 lead stand up for the historic home victory.
