Theatre legend Ebrahim Alkazi, classical vocalist Prabha Atre and artist Himmat Shah will be honoured with the "Legends of India" Life Achievement Award, it was announced Tuesday.
These awards are conferred upon living legends who have contributed in taking our art forms to a different platform among the masses in India and abroad.
The Delhi-based Alkazi remained the director of National School of Drama from 1962-77 and has directed over 50 plays whereas Pune-based Atre represents the Kirana gharana and Shah is a renowned sculptors of terracotta and bronze, and explores materiality as well as texture through his works.
They would receive the award during "The Sangeet Mahotsav" - a two day long musical festival in the capital beginning Dec 26.
Previous recipients of this award are Sitara Devi, Zohra Sehgal, Habib Tanvir and Birju Maharaj, among others.
