The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday criticised the Centre for failing to maintain law and order in the national capital, accusing Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal of patronising Delhi Police and its corruption.
Referring to the murder of a 31-year-old tutor, who was shot dead within his coaching centre by unidentified assailants, party's chief spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj said the culture of violence and hatred is very dangerous.
"Another daylight murder in Delhi. This culture of violence and hatred is very dangerous. There is no fear of law. Perpetrators of crime know they will not be convicted, thanks to corruption in Delhi Police. Fear of punishment is the only deterrent needed," Bharadwaj tweeted.
Another man Rupesh, who was working against the drug mafia in the area, was shot dead on Sunday night in a south Delhi locality.
"Yesterday, Rupesh who was working against drugs was killed by the drug mafia. His family claims Delhi Police is hand-in-gloves with the mafia. Obviously, drugs worths crores are sold under patronage of the Central government and police. You can get drugs anywhere in Delhi, including my neighbourhood," he said.
"LG Delhi is patronising Delhi Police and its corruption. The LG has made it unaccountable to people. The police do not even reply to the crime questions asked by MLAs in the Delhi Assembly," he added.
