Light rain and dust storm on Thursday brought a fall in both maximum and minimum temperatures in Rajasthan, much to the relief of people reeling under a heat wave in the desert state for the last few days.

Most parts of the state witnessed light rain, bringing the temperatures down. Some places recorded a drastic fall in day temperature while others saw a marginal fall.

Kota, which recorded a high of 43.4 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, was cooler on Thursday at 40.2 degrees -- two degrees below average for the season.

Similarly, Churu recorded 41.8 degrees on Tuesday but the maximum fell to 35.3 degrees on Thursday, almost seven degrees below average.

State capital Jaipur was pleasant in comparison to earlier days in the month. The city recorded a high of 38.5 degrees and a minimum of 26.4 degrees.

The border towns of Jaisalmer and Barmer saw maximum temperatures of 32.4 and 37.6 degrees, respectively.
