Atletico Madrid full back Javier Manquillo is on the verge of sealing a loan deal to English Premier League side Liverpool.
The 20-year-old right back missed his club's training session at Atletico's Cerro de Espino training ground Monday in order to travel to England to complete his move to the side that finished last English league season in second place, reports Xinhua.
The arrival of Argentine defender, Cristian Ansaldi, on loan from Zenit St. Petersburg last week looks to have closed the doors of the Atletico first team to Manquillo, who made his first team debut in the 2011-12 season and made seven appearances for the club last season.
The youngster, played three times in the BBVA Primera Liga, once in the Champions League and three times in the Copa del Rey, before a bad fall, which resulted in a serious neck injury brought his campaign to a premature end.
Liverpool are thought to be chasing the services of another Spanish player as well as Manquillo and are close to capturing the signature of Sevilla left back Alvaro Moreno, a player who made the preliminary squad of 30 for the World Cup finals, but failed to make the final 23.
