Lok Sabha calls for global 'zero tolerance' against terror

The Lok Sabha on Tuesday urged the global community to adopt "zero tolerance policy" towards terrorism and eliminate the menace worldwide. The members also mourned the deaths due to recent terror attacks in Bangladesh, France and Saudi Arabia.

Making a detailed reference to the tragic incidents in the country and overseas in the recent past, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said: "These terrorist attacks are yet another tragic reminder of the need for concerted action by the international community to fight the scourge of terrorism uncompromisingly."

Referring to terror strike in Jeddah on July 4, Mahajan said: "India remains firmly committed to working closely and actively with Saudi Arabia to combat the menace of terrorism in all its forms and menifestations."

On the terror strike in Dhaka in Bangladesh, she termed it a "cowardly attack" and asserted: "We stand together with the government and people of Bangladesh in the war against terrorism."

Mahajan also referred to tragic incidents in the country, including the killing of CRPF personnel and civilians in Jammu and Kashmir and in Pulgaon in Maharashtra.

She also referred to the deaths of 96 people due to natural calamities across Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Maharashtra, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh and Odisha.
