The board of transnational pharmaceutical company Lupin on Friday appointed co-founder Manju Deshbandhu Gupta as Chairperson for two years.
"The board felt that this is a deserving recognition for one of the co-founders and the company's first investor," said Lupin in a regulatory filing on the BSE.
She has been a board member for over 40 years.
"I am honoured with the confidence that the board has placed in me. I look forward to working with the board to take the company to greater heights," said Manju in the filing.
The company's founder Chairman, Deshbandu Gupta, died on June 26 here. He was 79.
Managing Director Kamal K. Sharma will continue to guide the management team for another year.

"I look upon my (non-executive) role as helping to take Deshbandu Gupta's legacy forward and transitioning over the next two years to Vinita Gupta (Chief Executive) and Nilesh Gupta (Managing Director)," added the Chairperson.
