Actor Idris Elba, who plays John Luther in "Luther", says the crime drama series has got a "lot of bad luck" for a murder detective.
"There's a story line that's very challenging for him, very taxing. You know, he's got a lot of bad luck for a murder detective. He gets himself into it," Elba said in a statement.
Speaking about the fourth season, which only had two episodes, Elba said: "But I definitely feel that these two episodes of the season are at par with the rest of the episodes that we've seen to date. But this one particularly challenges him (Luther) in a certain way."
Talking about Luther's relationship with Emma (Rose Leslie), Elba said: "They hit it off pretty well, except, you know, Luther has to reign her ambition in a little bit.
"I think Luther doesn't mind the company from Shaw but doesn't want to influence her too much, which he ends up doing. Luther has that, you know, if you work with Luther he's toxic, you know? How he works will seep through you. I think he likes her very much. I think he does get on with her".
