Renowned Indian artist M.F. Husain's five-day birth centenary year celebrations here, beginning on Saturday, will see film screenings, seminars and exhibitions of his graphics as well as books written on him.
In one of the seminars, art historian Geeti Sen, poet Ashok Vajpeyi and contemporary artist Johny M.L. will speak on the theme 'Freedom in Art Practice', said the organisers on Thursday.
'Husain 100' is being organised by Virasat Art in association with the Government College of Art and Craft and a host of other organisations.
"There will be exhibitions of Husain's graphics, of books written on him or by him, and of posters on him, in addition to the screening of films on or relating to him, seminars on him or on subjects relevant to his life and work," said the organisers in a statement.
Noted personalities from the world of art will inaugurate the celebrations. After the opening, the film "Vision 20th Century... Paintings by MF Husain and an interpretation" by veteran scientist P.M. Bhargava will be screened.
M.F Husain was a modern Indian painter of international renown. He was born on September 17, 1915, in Maharashtra and died in self-exile in London on June 9, 2011, at the age of 95.
