Union Communications Minister Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said Machine-to-Machine (M2M) technology and Internet of Things (IoT) would change the way people interact with the physical world.
Speaking at the inaugural session on "M2M and IoT Enabling Smart Infrastructure", organised by the Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) here, the Minister observed that the country should "leverage the body of work available in these areas (M2M and IoT) globally, in order to accelerate our adoption of new technologies".
"Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication and the Internet-of-Things (IoT) have the potential to transform our lives, by radically changing the way we interact with the physical world around us," Sinha said.
M2M and IoT communications involve evolving and disruptive technologies.
On the occasion, the Minister also released two technical reports prepared by the TEC, titled "Recommendation for IoT and M2M Security" and "Design and Planning Smart Cities with IoT and ICT".
Addressing the event, Telecom Secretary Aruna Sundararajan said: "It is good to see such relevant and comprehensive reports from TEC. Endeavours such as this will help in the organised and disciplined growth of M2M and IoT in the country."
