Left Front chairman in West Bengal Biman Bose Wednesday moved the Election Commission accusing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of violating the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha polls by making a "virulent and unverified" attack on the CPI-M and other parties.
Referring to Banerjee's speech at the Ramlila Maidan in Delhi during the day, Bose alleged that she made a "deliberate attempt" to vitiate the pre-poll environment in West Bengal.
"In her speech, she launched a virulent and unverified attack on the CPI-M and other parties, claiming that the parties were hatching a conspiracy to harm and even kill her.
"This is a deliberate attempt to vitiate the pre-poll environment in West Bengal where the law and order situation is already charged by violent speeches and activities of the Trinamool leaders and workers," he said.
Terming the remarks as "gross violation of the model code of conduct", Bose requested the Election Commission to look into the issue and take appropriate measures.
