Washington D.C. police on Monday said that they found at least nine weapons including assault-style weapons in a former police officer's car after stopping him for urinating near the White House.

The man, identified as 37-year-old Timothy Joseph Bates from the southern US state of Tennessee, is facing charges that include illegal possession of firearms, illegal transportation of firearms and other gun offenses, Xinhua quoted the police as saying.

A uniformed US Secret Service officer stopped Bates whom he saw urinating on Sunday near the west side of the White House, according to a Washington Post report.

When approached, Bates told the officer that he "came to the White House in order to speak with Adm. Mike Rogers and Gen. Jim Mattis for advice on missing paychecks and how to get the dog chip out of my head," the report said.

Louis Brownlee, a spokesman for the Memphis Police Department, said Bates had been on the city's police force and left in 2013.
