One person was killed in a light plane crash in Queensland Wednesday, a media report said.
The victim was the only person in the aircraft, which was believed to be a Savannah two-seat plane, Xinhua reported citing Fairfax Media.
Police were called to the crash site near Gladstone, about 9 a.m., where a large grass fire in the area was brought under control about an hour after the crash.
Recreational Aviation Australia (RAA), which is responsible for administering ultra-light, recreational and light sport aircraft operations, is working with the police in the investigation.
RAA President Michael Monk said that his organisation will be sending investigators to the crash scene in an effort to determine the cause of the accident.
"In the next three to four weeks, we will be examining the wreckage, the circumstances leading up to the crash and interviewing people who spoke to the pilot beforehand," he said.
