A man involved in various robberies in the national capital has been arrested, police said on Wednesday.
Furkan, 22, a resident of Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested on Tuesday night from south Delhi after a chase by a police party from Maharani Bagh to Nehru Nagar area, said DCP (South-East) Mandeep Randhawa.
"We were receiving regular complaints from the adjoining areas of Sun Light colony and Sarai Kale Khan (in south Delhi) regarding two motorcycle-borne men robbing people at gunpoint," Randhawa said.
"Acting on a tip-off around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, a police team checked vehicles passing at Ashram Chowk. Just as the police party signalled two motorbike-borne men to stop, they began firing indiscriminately, injuring sub-inspector Bijender Singh."
Furkan, however, fell off the motorbike and was apprehended but his associate managed to escape, he said.
