A court here jailed a man for life for killing his ex-girlfriend's husband.
Additional Sessions Judge Kamini Lau awarded life term to 24-year-old Atul Sharma, an Uttar Pradesh resident for killing Mukesh Sharma, and imposed on him a fine of Rs. 1 lakh.
According to prosecution, in March 2013, Atul killed his ex-lover's husband with a carpentary tool and axe. Police lodged a case against him in west Delhi's Vijay Vihar police sation.
It was further alleged that Atul eliminated Mukesh so that he could marry his lover.
"The prosecution has been able to prove and substantiate the allegations against the accused Atul Sharma of having committed the murder of the woman's husband," the judge said.
The court directed that the amount be given to brother or guardian of the deceased as compensation.

The court said that the case could not be put on the same pedestal as other ordinary murder cases but at the same time it also did not fall within the category of rarest of rare case.
"The extent of force used upon the deceased is evident from the fact that the liver was fragmented into multiple pieces," the court said. The court observed that to ensure that his crime did not come to light, Atul took the victim to the hospital claiming that he had fallen on the saw machine while working.
The order was delivered Nov 24 but was made available Friday.
