An unnamed Manchester United player was trapped in Rotterdam after United's 0-1 loss to Dutch side Feyenoord in a Europa League match as he struggled to provide his urine sample for doping tests.

The footballer was unable to give his urine sample on time and was late for his flight back to Manchester until the local police intervened to give him a lift on his way to the airport.

The player almost missed the flight back to Manchester after being held up by doping control authorities after the game, according to a report in goal.com on Friday.

He arrived just in time to board the plane, after being given a lift by a police officer on a motorcycle.

"End of service," the Rotterdam officer tweeted on Thursday. "One player from Manchester United narrowly put on the plane. He could not pee at doping control."
