Hindu Sena chief Vishnu Gupta was on Wednesday arrested for filing a false complaint that beef was served at the Kerala House here.

"Gupta has been arrested under Section 107 (abetment) and 151 (knowingly joining assembly of five or more persons after it has been commanded to disperse) of the IPC," Joint Commissioner of Police M.K. Meena told IANS.

Another police official said Gupta was on police radar over several cases and also accused of attacking former Aam Aadmi Party leader and lawyer Prashant Bhushan.

On Monday, Gupta complained to police that beef - by which he meant "cow's meat" - was being served at Kerala House, following which the police raided the premises.

Police later denied that it was a "raid" at the guest house.

The action came in for widespread criticism as only buffalo meat was served in the Kerala House canteen.
