Hundreds of students of the Mangalayatan University Friday went on a rampage, pelting stones on buses and torching hoardings on the Mathura-Aligarh road, as they protested "mismanagement" by the varsity authorities.
Local police with the anti-riot squad reached the spot to control the students.
Student leaders, hostellers and girl students voiced their frustration and anger against the university authorities, alleging they were were "not bothered about our problems nor do they listen to us".
Varsity officials denied the claims.
University official Hemant Agarwal told IANS that the students protested against delay in disbursing scholarships.
"The university has nothing to do with the scholarships. Because the state government has not provided the funds, so there is a delay. We have written to the state government so many times," he said.
However, students from different parts of the country studying for engineering and IT courses at the varsity, were not pacified and wanted the authorities to respond fast to their grievances.
