A Cebu Pacific flight, flying to Manila from Kuwait, made an emergency landing at the international airport here after a pregnant female passenger went into labour pains, airline sources said on Friday.
"Flight 5J 019 bound for Manila from Kuwait was diverted to Kolkata.
"The expectant mother reported contractions mid-air. She was assisted by the cabin crew, along with three other passengers who were nurses, while the plane was diverted to the nearest airport," a source said.
The flight landed at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International airport at about 3 p.m.
The passenger was admitted in a city hospital. The airline contacted the Philippine Embassy in India for immediate assistance of the passenger, sources said.
