Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif Sunday smiled and shook hands as they began their bilateral talks here on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting.
The talks were taking place with Thursday's fidayeen attack in Jammu and Kashmir by Pakistani militants in the background in which 12 people were killed.
Manmohan Singh has raised the issue of terrorism emanating from Pakistani soil in his bilateral talks with US President Barack Obama and in his speech at the UN General Assembly.
