Deputy Election Commissioner Sandeep Saxena on Sunday instructed all district magistrates (DM) and superintendents of police (SP) of poll-bound West Bengal to "map vulnerability" of voters "in a dynamic way".
"Instructions which have been issued very recently are to make vulnerability mapping and criticality analysis. Mapping has started long ago but it has to be in a dynamic way. Depending on how the situation is emerging, DMs, SPs and everybody should be preparing themselves," Saxena told reporters after meeting the DMs and SPs of the all districts.
"For phase one, filing of nomination has started, so taking into account all the immediate features or developments which are taking place, vulnerability mapping has to be made (mapped) by everybody and suitable actions should be taken," he said.
Saxena said the poll panel was preparing itself for all types of eventuality as per the emerging picture.
"This (mapping) is one of the aspects. Apart from that, very close monitoring would be done for all the developments happening through the use of various IT applications," he said.
"Many of the new initiatives are being taken in West Bengal also. It will be presented before the commission tomorrow (Monday)," he said.
