Real Madrid's Brazilian defender Marcelo said that his team needs to be patient to achieve victory against Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday, while hoping that front-runners Barcelona suffer a setback in the final round of La Liga football tournament.
Second-placed Real Madrid are one point behind defending champions Barcelona with only a round of games to go. Real will not only have to beat Deportivo but also hope that table-toppers Barcelona lose to Granada.
According to Real Madrid's official website, Marcelo spoke to Bwin about the final La Liga match and said on Thursday, "We have to keep playing as we have been doing, with patience, trying for possession and with humility towards our opponents".
"It is the last game in La Liga. Deportivo will definitely want to win and it will be different. You have to know how to play against them because they are a team that presents not one sole threat, but several. They have several good players," he added.
Marcelo also considered that "teams always play strongly against Madrid, I'm certain that Deportivo will want to win... and so do we. I think it's going to be a good game."
The Brazilian stressed that his teammates are happy to be under the command of French head coach Zinedine Zidane, who took the helm at Madrid after Rafael Benitez was dismissed in the middle of the season, and has managed to lead the team to the Champions League final, as well as last round hopes in La Liga, reports Efe.
"I'm not going to talk about numbers because I don't like that, but the truth is we are very happy with him. He is a great coach. As I said before, things have changed for the better," Marcelo concluded.
