The initiatives for rural development, especially for empowerment of rural poor in India, were useful for Mauritius, observed a high-level delegation from the Indian Ocean island country.
A delegation consisting of minister Prithvirajsing Roopun, Mauritius and Boyramboli Bojrazsingh, permanent secretary, in the social integration and economic empowerment ministry visited the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR) here to get familiarised with the various initiatives for rural development and economic development of vulnerable groups in India.
With a view to get acquainted with the activities in the field, the delegation visited Koyalagudem Village, near Pochampally, in Telangana's Nalgonda district and interacted with the members of self-help groups (SHGs), and members of village panchayat and Handloom Weavers Coopeative Society.
The delegation had interaction with top officials who briefed them on the latest initiatives of the government for skill development of rural youth.
