Two private life insurers - Max Life Insurance and PNB MetLife - on Monday announced simplified claims procedures for those who are affected by the floods in Chennai.
In a statement, Max Life Insurance said it has set up a special claims helpdesk to speed up the claims settlement.
As to the death claims procedures Max Life Insurance said the documents to be submitted are:any evidence of death/missing from government/designated district officials or hospital authorities /municipal record; claim intimation form/claimant statement (with bank passbook copy or cancelled cheque of nominee/beneficiary); and a photo identity proof of nominee/beneficiary.

PNB MetLife said it has set up a dedicated claims helpline for Tamil Nadu flood victims with toll free number: 1800-425-6969.
The company said the following documents are to be submitted by the claimants: claimant statement (downloadable form) or written intimation from claimant mentioning policy details and date of death; death certificate issued by municipal corporation/local authorities or death certificate/report issued by police authorities/by armed forces; and nominee identity, residence proof and account details/bank certificate of the nominee.
