Mazda Motor (China) Co., a subsidiary of Japanese car maker Mazda, is recalling 309 Mazda 6 sedans and 370 RX-8 cars in China over faulty airbags, according to China's watchdog.
The imported cars were manufactured between March 29, 2002, and February 15, 2008, Xinhua news agency quoted China's general administration of quality supervision, inspection and quarantine (AQSIQ) as saying in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Due to a problem with a supplier, inflators in the front airbags could rupture when the airbags deploy and broken parts may hurt motorists, the statement said.
The company will replace the defective inflators free of charge starting from Tuesday.
