Minister for Corporate Affairs Sachin Pilot Thursday urged Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to intervene in the murder of a medical student in Moradabad town to ensure that culprits are brought to book, sources in Pilot's office said.
The sources said that Pilot wrote a letter to the UP chief minister and visited the victim's house in Faridabad, Haryana, to attend her last rites Thursday.
Neeraj Bhadana, in her early 20's, was the first year MBBS student at Teerthanker Mahaveer University in Moradabad, some 165 km from here.
She was found dead in college campus July 6. The college authorities had termed it a suicide case but her post-mortem report later revealed that she died due to asphyxiation.
The report also confirmed that the cause of asphyxiation was the result of smothering.
Later, a first information report (FIR) was registered at a police station in Moradabad but nobody has been arrested so far.
